How To Make A Miserable Stuffed Animal Feel Better
Sometimes your stuffed animal will feel really sad or scared. You will need to comfort him/her to make your stuffed animal feel better. Here are some steps that will make your stuffed animal happy again.
Step One: Show Love
Show your stuffed animal you love him/her and that it is okay by cuddling with him/her and giving them kisses and hugs. Your goal is to make him/her smile, so if they do they are on their way to feeling better!
Step Two: Determine The Problem
Ask your stuffed animal what is wrong and why they are sad. If she/he does not want to tell you that could mean that your stuffed animal is annoyed or stressed out. Or the problem could be about you! If your stuffed animal does not want to say do not keep asking him. Instead, gently reassure him/her that everything is okay and that when they are ready to say what is wrong they can tell you. Do not force your animal to say what is wrong, for that could cause extreme stress.
Step Three: Cradle And Cuddle
Cradle your stuffed animal and try to calm him/her down. Give him/her one of her favorite toys so that they will smile.
Step Four: Feeding
If it is near a meal feed him/her their normal meal. Make them feel comfortable while eating. If your bear did not say what was wrong, they might want to say when they are done with their meal.
Step Five: Don'ts
NEVER yell or neglect your teddy when he/she is sad or scared. This will cause extreme distress. Instead, say happy things and try to calm him/her down with love and kindness.
Step Six: Sing Them A Lullaby
Try singing your stuffed animal a lullaby (like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) to calm him/her down. Or read him/her a caling book and put him/her down for a nap so he/she can rest.
Step Seven: Sleep
If it is bedtime, put your stuffed animal to sleep. Read or sing to them until they fall asleep.
Step Eight: Fun!
Go do a fun activity with your stuffed animal. If the activity is fun enough they might forget about being sad.
